We work closely with our clients and go the extra mile to exceed their expectations. Our aim is to help our clients succeed, irregardless of challenge or their business needs.
Our team has more than a century's worth of experience from the ship design industry.
We value integrity, honesty and transparency in everything we do. Our customer relationships are built on mutual respect and trust. In deference to future generations, sustainability is at the core of every product and service we offer.
The Endresen family proudly traces its industrial roots back to the 1880s, when Haldor Haldorsen constructed the first Norwegian designed combustion engine in a local smithy.
We believe that nature provides us with the best design formats....
We believe in each and every person's right to be treated with respect, irregardless of gender, race or creed. We strive for integrity and transparency in everything we do.

Boat design and building have been part of Halfdan’s life for as long as he can remember. His first venture into design involved building a wooden pram in his parents’ back yard at the ripe age of….. Whether the vessel was seaworthy, remains unclear, as it proved too heavy to shift, and was left on the building site.
At the age of 18, Halfdan developed a ……….., employing a Texas Instruments calculator. The ……… was one of the first of his kind, preceding modern CF-analysis tools by more than a decade.
Halfdan’s passion is design efficiency. In 2013, after more than twenty years as owner and CEO at RF Consulting, he established Wave Propulsion AS together with his father Leif Magnus. Together they sat out to design an unrivalled hull, based on their combined knowledge of hydrodynamics, throwing a combined century worth of experience into the venture.
Halfdan and Leif Magnus’ life-long interest in propulsion technology has also led them to develop the Wave Padle, an autonomous propulsion system consisting of a set of oars that converts wave movement to energy to propel vessels. The project was funded in part by the Norwegian Research Council.
To the extent that he has any spare time, Halfdan freelances as audio engineer at local venues, in particular at Mosterhavn Church.

Leif Magnus is co-founder of Wave Propulsion. Vessel- and engine design has been his lifelong passion. During a career spanning seven decades, he has been employed as a designer for several successful companies, including Bergen Engine and Wichmann Motor Factory. He has been responsible for designing and mounting a number of engines, including the one which is now mounted in the M/S Atløy veteran ship.
After retiring from Wichmann in 1973, Leif Magnus founded Servogear AS.Servogear has since grown to become one of the leading propulsion suppliers in the Norwegian maritime sector.
Leif Magnus continues to contribute his unique ideas and creative solutions at Wave Propulsion, and is deeply involved in daily business operations.
The Wave Propulsion team has more than a century’s worth of combined experience from the naval design industry. Our CEO, Halfdan Endresen, is a fourth generation entrepreneur in a family that traces its commercial roots via Wichman Motorverksted, established in 1903, back to Brødrene Haldorsens Mekaniske Verksted, established in 1864. His grandfather on his mother’s side of the family established (1922) and ran Norheimsund Mekaniske Verksted, in Hardanger, Norway.
The maritime cluster at Rubbestadneset traces its origins back to the late 19th century, when Halfdan’s great uncle, Haldor Haldorsen constructed the first Norwegian designed combustion engine in his father’s forge. In 1903, Haldorsen and his brothers incorporated Wichmann Motors, a company that remained in business until being acquired by Wärtsillä in 1986.
